Cherry Chocolate Kiss Cookies

My kids love Maraschino cherries.  We love any cookies that have chocolate kisses in them.  This recipe comes together so quickly and easily and you will love the results.  This would be a perfect recipe to take to a Christmas cookie exchange.



1 cup salted butter, soft at room temperature

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tsp Maraschino cherry juice

1/2 tsp almond extract

4 drops liquid red food coloring

2 1/4 cup flour

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup chopped Maraschino cherries

40-50 milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, cream together the soft butter and powdered sugar.  Add in cherry juice, almond extract, and food coloring.  Mix well.

Add in the flour and salt and mix just until combines.  Carefully fold in the chopped Maraschino cherries.

Scoop out dough in to 1 Tbsp balls and place on cookie sheet.  Bake for 8-10 minutes.  Remove from oven and press one candy kiss on to the top of each cookie.

Store in an air tight container.
