Peach Crescent Roll Dumplings

By
Fresh peaches rolled in Crescent dough.  Cinnamon sugar, butter, and soda. (Yes! We really use soda).  Gooey on the bottom like a peach cobbler, carmelized butter, and cinnamon sugar stop.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe peaches. Each peach sliced into 4 wedges with the pit removed) *See notes
  • 2 cans 8 oz each refrigerated crescent roll dough.
  • 1 cup salted butter melted
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cup Mountain Dew *See notes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Slice your peaches. You can leave the peel on or take it off if you prefer. Slice each peach in 4 and remove the pit in the center.
  3. Open the crescent dough and divide at the lines into triangles. You should have 16 peach slices and 16 dough triangles.
  4. Place a peach slice horizontally on the widest end of the dough triangle. Roll up the peach and place it seam down in the baking dish. *I pinch the seam closed a tiny bit. Continue with all of the peach slices.
  5. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and stir in the sugars and cinnamon. Stir well until all the sugar is dissolved. Spread the mixture over the dumplings.
  6. Pour the soda around the pan's edges and between the dumplings in the bottom of the pan. *Don’t pour it directly over the top of the dumplings.
  7. Bake for 35 minutes until golden brown on top and bubbly. Remove from oven and let set for about 10-15 minutes for the sauce to thicken.
  8. Serve with vanilla ice cream, and enjoy! Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat in the microwave.

Notes

  • I leave the peels on and they break down nicely and you don’t even notice them.
  • If you don’t have fresh peaches, buy jarred or canned peach halves.  Then just pat them dry and slice in half so you have peach quarters.
  • You can use 7-up, Sprite, or Fresca soda.  Mountain Dew is a novelty at our house so the kids love when I buy a 20oz bottle special for the recipe.
  • You can easily half this recipe and make it in an 8X8 baking dish.  Still cook for 35 minutes.
