Brownies with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting

Brownies with frosting to die for! I serve these plain but if you want to kick it up a notch on the fun factor, add your favorite sprinkles. Sprinkles make everything better.




1 1/3 cup salted butter, soft at room temperature

2 1/3 cup granulated sugar

4 eggs

3 tsp vanilla extract

2 1/4 cup all purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened baking cocoa

1/2 tsp salt


4 oz cream cheese, soft at room temperature

2 Tbsp salted butter, soft at room temperature

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups powder sugar

2 Tbsp heavy cream




Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Line a 9×13 cake pan with foil and spray with non stick cooking spray.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

Beat in eggs and vanilla until mixed well.

Add in flour, cocoa, and salt while mixing on low and gradually mix together until well combined.  Batter will be thick.

Spread batter in to prepared baking dish.  Bake for 40-45 minutes until center is done when tested with toothpick or knife. 

Cool completely before frosting.


In a medium mixing bowl, cream together cream cheese and butter until smooth.  Add in vanilla and cocoa powder and mix well.

Slowly add in powdered sugar and tiny amounts of the heavy cream until all combined.  Frosting will be light and fluffy.

Spread on cool brownies and top with sprinkles if desired.
