Hershey’s Perfect Chocolate Cake

100 recipes in 100 days!!  Here is celebration recipe 100! Not only am I celebrating finishing this challenge, but I also reached 10 millions views on my blog last week.  Thus, a large cake, chocolate cake, Hershey’s Perfect Chocolate Cake... You know I love cake.

Hershey’s Perfect Chocolate Cake

*recipe from Hershey’s*

2 cups granulated sugar

1 ¾ cup flour

¾ cup Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa

1 ½ teaspoon baking powder

1 ½ teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

1 cup milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup boiling water

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease and flour 2 9 inch round cake pans

2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the first six ingredients (sugar through salt).  Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla, beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.  Stir in boiling water.  The batter will be thin.  Pour in to prepared pans and bake for 35-40 minutes.  Allow cakes to cool slightly before turning out onto wire racks to cool completely.

3. Frost with One Bowl Chocolate Frosting

6 tablespoon butter, soft to room temp

2 ⅔ cup powdered sugar

½ cup cocoa

⅓ cup heavy whipping cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients and beat with an electric mixer.

  1. I make this cake all the time. It is the best cake in the world and once I make it my friends ask for it again and again. I substitute applesauce for the oil in the cake batter and it makes it even richer! I also add 3 cups of powdered sugar and 1/3 of a cup of milk for the frosting. Never added heavy whipping cream so I might have to try that =).
